Harold P. Ingenthron

Harold P. “Shadow”  Ingenthron, 87, of Topeka, died November 4, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital. Mr. Ingenthron was born in Topeka, Kansas on June 26, 1920 the son of George J. and Elizabeth C. (Andes) Ingenthron.  Harold was a 1938 graduate of Topeka Catholic High School. He was co-owner of the Topeka Music Company from 1956 until his retirement in 1982.  Harold served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945. Leaving as a First Class Petty Officer. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2187, and an honorary life member of the American Legion Post #1. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and an honorary life member of Knights of Columbus Council #534, as well as a life  long resident of the Oakland Community. Harold will be remembered for his love of fishing, his famous fried chicken, and for playing softball in his youth for the Stevenson Roofing Team and bowling in the Knights of Columbus league. He married Betty Lou Pressgrove at the Church of the Assumption on June 1, 1950.  She survives him.  He is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth Dennis of Topeka and many nieces and nephews.  Harold was preceded in death by his parents, two brother, Raymond and John and three sisters, Helen Abate, Lucille Stier and Mildred Crawford. Mr. Ingenthron will lie in state at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday where the family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m.  A Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the church.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment following at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Big Springs, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart/St. Joseph Church and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 West Sixth St., Topeka, Kansas  66603.
