Sarah L. Bretz, 90, of Topeka, died October 11, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital. Sarah was born on October 28, 1916 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Frank and Anna Geise Gill. She attended Branner, Lincoln Grade Schools and was a 1935 graduate of Topeka High School. She worked for The Supply Depot two years during WW II, Adams Printing, Halls Lithograph, Ives Printing and The State Printing Plant for fifteen years before she retired from there in 1976. Sarah was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church since 1978, the Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503 and St. Francis Auxiliary. She was married to Ray Root in 1936, they divorced in 1945. Sarah married George J. Bretz in Topeka on August 2, 1952. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1990. Survivors include: Six nieces, five nephews, five step-daughters, two step-sons and fifteen step grandchildren.She will lie in state at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 312 NE Freeman on Saturday after 9:00 a.m. with a Rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Topeka Cemetery.
