Rosetta Mae Johnson, 70, of Topeka, died September 21, 2007 at Midland Hospice House.
She was born in Topeka, Kansas on April 8, 1937 the daughter of Leonard and Edith (Divers) Skaggs.
Rosetta was retired in 1971 after many years working for the Kansas Neurological Institute as a Certified Nurses Aide. She had previously worked for Hillhaven Nursing Home.
She was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist church and enjoyed playing cards and BINGO.
Rosetta married John Henry Johnson in Topeka, Kansas in 1955. He predeceased her in June of 1971. She was also predeceased by her step-father Louis Plakio, her father, Leonard Skaggs, a grandson, Michael Johnson and longtime companion Jesse Spears, and a sister Precella Bevins. She is survived by her mother, Edith L. Divers Plakio of Topeka, a son, Alonzo Plakio Sr.and his wife Terri of Topeka, two daughters, Johnnie Johnson of Topeka, and Bonita Johnson-Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colo., her brothers, Louis Aloysius Plakio Jr. and his wife Mary Ann and Kimo Plakio and his wife Veronica all of Topeka, a sister, Betty Davis of Detroit, Michigan, two sisters-in-law Barbara Simpson of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Thelma Johnson of Topeka, one brother-in-law Walter Johnson of Topeka and a niece Edna Johnson of Lincoln, Neb., 16 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Johnson will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Thursday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 2222 SE Madison. Interment will follow in Mount Auburn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 2511 SE Massachusetts.
