Jean Ilean Rabe, 71, of Topeka, died September 1, 2007 at her home.
Jean was born on July 19, 1936 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Thomas and Wilma Blair Thornton.
Mrs. Rabe was a homemaker and had worked as a packer for Fleming Foods and for Josten’s in the Printing Department working with book covers.
Jean was a member of Mater Dei’s Assumption Church and was an active blood donor and supported many charities. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed flower gardening and going to garage sales.
She married Jacob M. “Jake” Rabe in Topeka on June 13, 1953. He predeceased her on January 28, 1999. Other survivors include her two daughters, Pamela J. Rabe and Catherine E. Rabe both of Topeka, one son Kevin L. Rabe and his wife Michelle of Topeka, a brother of Topeka, six grandchildren: Will, Danielle, Jacob, Hunter, Samantha and Sarah and one great granddaughter Cecilia.
Jean will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday where a Parish Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mater Dei’s Assumption Church on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
