Leo L. Rohr, 91, of Topeka, died August 31, 2007 at the Midland Hospice House.
Mr. Rohr was born in Leibenthal, Kansas on June 1, 1916 the son of John R. and Anna Marie (Quint) Rohr. He graduated in 1933 from High School in Arnold, Kansas. Leo served in the US Army during WWII.
Leo’s hobbies included wood working, stained glass and working in his yard.
He retired in 1978 from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company where he had worked twenty-eight years in the bandbury/mixing department. At the time of his retirement Leo was a foreman. Leo was a member of Mater Dei Parish, Knights of Columbus Council #534 and the Goodyear Leisure Club.
Leo married Adelia Wittman in St. Peter, Kansas on August 29, 1939. She preceded him in death on April 16, 1997. A son, Ronald died in 1958 and a daughter, Betty Jean Rohr died in 1942. Eight brothers and one sister also preceded in death.
He is survived by: two sons, Robert L. Rohr and his wife Sandy of Topeka and Francis J. Rohr and his wife Judy of Topeka; two daughters, Linda J. Elliott of Holton and Gloria J. Sumner and her husband Randy of Topeka and one sister, Cora Wittman of Quinter. Ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Rohr will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. A parish rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 Wednesday at Mater Dei’s Assumption Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home, 800 SW 6th Avenue.
