Alexina J. Heim

March 9, 1920 — August 18, 2007

Mrs. Alexina “Jessie” Heim, 87, Topeka, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2007 at her home.

 

Mrs. Heim was employed in the Unemployment Division of the Kansas Department of Human Resources for the State of Kansas for nineteen years before she retired.  She worked for Hercules Powder Company also known as Sunflower Ammunition Plant for many years.

 

She was born March 9, 1920 in Maple Hill the daughter of George and Susan Montgomery Watt.  Alexina was a 1938 graduate of Maple Hill School, she also graduated from Clark’s School of Business in Topeka.  She was a devoted, wife, mother and grandmother.

 

Jessie was married to John Bernard Heim on March 21, 1941 in St. Marys.  He preceded her in death on May 7, 1998.  A twin daughter, Marilyn A. Landon died in September of 2004.  A son, David Heim died in infancy and a brother, William “Billy” Watt died as a child.

 

Survivors include:  one son, Michael Heim and his wife Linda of Lawrence; twin daughter, Judith Stockman and her husband Joseph of Topeka and a sister, Dorothy Farr of Port Townsend, WA.  Eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several step great grandchildren also survive.

 

The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Maple Hill Congregational Church.  Interment will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery.  Mrs. Heim will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. today at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  A rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Maple Hill Cemetery Association or the charity of donor’s choice and sent in care of the funeral home, 800 SW 6th, 66603.
