Edna M. Caffrey, 92, of Topeka, died August 5, 2007 at Manor Care of Topeka. Edna was born in Fostoria, Kansas on October 24, 1914 the daughter of Elmer and Hilda (Johnson) Samuelson. She married Bart Caffrey in Fostoria, Kansas on February 1, 1937. He preceded her in death on August 31, 1981. She was also predeceased by a son-in-law Thomas Ingalsbe Jr. on May 31, 2004 and by a brother Howard. Mrs. Caffrey received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Masters of Education from Kansas University. She was an Elementary School Teacher at State Street Elementary for 27 years. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Teacher’s Sorority and the Kansas Retired Teacher’s Association. Edna enjoyed traveling, camping with her husband, gardening and playing cards with family and friends. She is survived by a daughter, Janis Ingalsbe of Topeka, two grandsons, Dean Ingalsbe and wife Judy of Valley Center; and Todd Ingalsbe and wife Kelly of Wamego; five great granddaughters, Katie, Tera, Deanna, Jasmine and Desiree. Edna is also survived by a brother Tex Samuelson of Las Vegas, N.M. and by a sister Marcelia Samuelson of Albuquerque, N.M. Mrs. Caffrey will lie in state at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. A Parish Prayer Service will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Olsburg Cemetery in Olsburg, Kansas.
