Margaret Koch died peacefully on July 23, 2007 after a long illness at Villa St. Francis in Olathe, Kansas. Margaret was born on August 3, 1920 in Clara, Kansas the daughter of Leo and Mary Lambert.
She and her husband owned a dairy farm in the Auburn community where she was active in the Auburn 4-H Club. Margaret was also an Avon Representative in the Auburn area. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503, Christ the King Catholic Church, and a volunteer for Let’s Help. Margaret was a cook for Baumgardner’s and the local school district.
She will be remembered for her love of cooking, especially her famous cinnamon and dinner rolls.
Margaret married Joseph Koch on April 2, 1940, they celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to his death. To their marriage four children were born. She is survived by her children; Mary Koch of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Charles Leo Koch of Auburn, Kansas, Helen Davis of Nicoma Park, Oklahoma and Linda Wayne (Dennis) of Shawnee, Kansas, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, George, Isador and Darrell Lambert. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers, Raymond, Francis and Flavius.
Mrs. Koch will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. where a Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503 rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. followed by the Parish Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
