Ruth Davis

Ruth Davis, 74, of Topeka, died June 21, 2007 at a local care home.

Ruth was born on November 2, 1932 in Schoenchen, KS the daughter of Alois J. and Elizabeth A. (McIntosch) Werth.  She was a Dental Assistance while living in Western Kansas.  She had worked in Topeka for Blue Cross and Blue Shield and most recently as a receptionist for Dr. Duane McCarter.

Ruth was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, St. Theresa's Guild and did volunteer work for the church including serving funeral dinners and making baptismal bibs.  She will be remembered as someone who enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and cooking.

She was married to Lowell B. Davis on September 4, 1954.  He survives.  She is also survived by a son Daryl Jay Davis of Nixa, MO. a daughter Denise Smoot and husband John of Toeka; sisters Edna Schoendaller of Lacrosse,  Wilma Giebler and husband Marvin of Kansas City, KS Mathilda Daniels and husband Richard of Hays,; grandson Dustin Fluke and wife Laura and their two daughters, Gabrielle and Kadyn Fluke and granddaughter Kara Fluke all of Topeka; and three step grandchildren, Dora, Kacie and Carol Jean Smoot of Colorado.

Mrs. Davis will lie in state at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Monday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. St. Matthew Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.  Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
