Charles A. Wunder, 86, of Topeka, died June 9, 2007 at Midland Hospice House.
He was born in Arkansas City, Kansas on February 18, 1921 the son of Charles C. and Lily Viola (Lane) Wunder. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy and served during World War II. Charles worked many years for the Topeka Foundry and Ironworks and later did construction work.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Philip Billard Post #1650 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Laborer’s International Union of North American Local #142.
Charles was preceded in death by a twin brother, John and by five other brothers, Cecil Martin, Albert, Leo, Thomas and Don Wunder and by three sisters, Catherine McGlohn, Louise Eckman and Lucy Morrisey. He is survived by a brother Robert J. Wunder and his wife Marcella of Topeka and by a sister Hilda Smith and her husband A.J. of Shacklefords, Virginia, a sister-in-law Elizabeth Wunder of Topeka and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Mr. Wunder will lie in state 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a Parish Rosary and Prayer Service will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors by Philip Billard Post #1650 of the V.F.W. Memorial contributions are suggested to Midland Hospice House or to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
