Katherine T. Weaver

Katharine Therese “Kathy” O’Neil Weaver, 78, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at her home.

Kathy was a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital for 15 years before retiring in 1981.

Mrs. Weaver was born January 7, 1929 in New Haven, CT the daughter of Bernard F. and Katherine Galligan O’Neil.  She was a 1946 graduate of Hill House High School in New Haven, CT, a 1949 graduate of St. Raphael Hospital School of Nursing and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Washburn University in 1977.

Kathy was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector.  She also was a member of the Fun Club at church, Phi Kappa Phi Sorority and Right of Christian Initiation of Adults. 

She was married to George Weaver on April 23, 1951 in New Haven, CT.  He survives.

Other survivors include; four sons, Thomas G. Weaver of Kansas City, MO, Andrew B. Weaver of Topeka, Carl J. Weaver of Merriam and James G. Weaver of Topeka and a sister, Margaret Mary O’Neil of University Heights, OH.  Ten grandchildren also survive.  A son, Daniel J. Weaver died in 1962.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Matthew Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.  Mrs. Weaver will be in repose after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church where a rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church, Catholic Community Health Care or Birthright and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
