Alma M. Gordon

Alma Marie Long-Gordon, 82, Topeka, left us on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at St. Francis Health Center to be with her husband Donald E. Long who preceded her in death on September 14, 1983.  They were married on February 5, 1946.  She was also preceded in death by a brother Don Danner of Carroll, IA and a sister Berneice Bayliss of Carroll, IA.

Mrs. Long-Gordon was born December 26, 1924 in Arcadia, IA the daughter of Bernard and Clara Juergens Danner.  Alma was an avid KU Jayhawk and K.C Chiefs fan.  She devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church.

She is survived by: two sons, Darrell and (Cookie) Long of Gravois Mills, MO and Jerry Long of Linwood; two daughters, Brenda and (Jack) Freeman of Topeka and Sherri and (Bill) Chapman of Berryton; three brothers, Alton, Paul and Merle Danner all of Carroll, IA and two sisters, LaVerne Simmons of Phoenix, AZ and Florence Middendorf of Longmont, CO.  Nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.  Mrs. Gordon will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s  Childrens Hospital and sent in care of the funeral home.
