Rita Pimental Valdivia, 73, of Topeka, peacefully passed away Thursday morning, April 12, 2007. Rita was born in Topeka on July 4, 1933, the daughter of Rafael Pimental and Petra Loya Pimental. She was a lifelong and devoted member of the Catholic Church. Survivors include her former husband and their five children, Rene Valdivia and his wife Lynne; Laura Vega and her husband Rene; James Valdivia and his wife Amy; Donald Valdivia and Ted Valdivia; six sisters, Aurora Delgado, Lydia Borjon, Mary Crump, Grace Gonzales, Delores Ruiz and Susan Watson and nine grandchildren, Michelle Ramos, Michael Ramos, Melissa Vega, Marissa Vega, Andrew Wroth, Joshua Valdivia, Mariah Valdivia, Kaela Valdivia and Alayna Hewitt, all of Topeka. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Raul, Ruben and Gilbert and two sisters, Helen Carrizales and Esperenza Guebara. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10:00 o’clock at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Valdivia will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be recited at 6:00 o’clock.
