Lillian Elizabeth Garrity, of Topeka, entered into eternal life Saturday afternoon, April 7, 2007 at Midland Hospice. She was 94.
She was a 1931 graduate of Capitol Catholic High School and prior to her retirement was a clerk and Superintendent of Car Service for the Santa Fe Railway for thirty-eight years.
Miss Garrity was a long time member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Leisure Club at the Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503, Santa Fe Old Timer's Club and the National Association of Retired People.
She was born July 16, 1912 in Topeka the daughter of John Malachi Garrity and Elizabeth Mary Krieg. Her parents and brothers John and Galen preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving sister, Marie, of Topeka; nephew Reverend G. Patrick Garrity, Morristown, Tennessee and sister-in-law Sylvia Garrity, Wichita. Several close, dear friends also survive.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a recitation of the rosary by the Daughters of Isabella at 4:00 o'clock will be followed by a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverend G. Patrick Garrity Thursday morning at 11:00 o'clock at Most Pure Heart of Mary Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Midland Hospice, St. Francis Hospital or Most Pure Heart of Mary Church and sent in care of the funeral home, 800 West Sixth, Topeka 66603.
