Agnes Mildred Puhl Schiffelbein, 94, of Topeka, KS died Thursday, December 16, 2021, at the University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus.
She was born October 30, 1927, in Topeka the daughter of Adam and Catherine (Rak) Puhl.
Agnes attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Topeka Catholic High School. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was active with the Altar Society and was the church organist for over 72 years. She volunteered to serve luncheon meals to the poor and homeless at Let’s Help. Agnes enjoyed raising her children, playing the organ, sewing, volunteering and going to the casino.
She married Hubert Schiffelbein on January 18, 1949, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2015. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy McMillen, Two sons, Stephen (Teresa) Schiffelbein and Donald Schiffelbein. Fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Catherine, two sons, Edward and Daniel along with four brothers and nine sisters and a grandson, Alexander Schiffelbein.
The Altar Society will pray the rosary at 4:30. Monday, December 20, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Following the rosary, the family will receive friends until 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Sacred Heart/St. Joseph Parish sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
