Alfred “Al” Tetuan, age 70, of Topeka, KS, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 25, 2024, in Topeka.
He was born the son of Michael Tetuan, Sr., and Bibiana Andrea “Andy” (Vasquez) Tetuan on May 2, 1954, in Topeka, KS. On September 17, 1977, Al married his beloved wife, Jane M. Hodges and together they celebrated 38 years of marriage before Jane’s passing on November 28, 2015.
Al was a dedicated employee and starting at the age 18, working and retiring from Southwestern Bell after 35 years as a Lineman. He was a faithful member of Community Church and throughout the years, he was always willing to help with different church activities. During his wife’s illness, Al was a long-time caregiver to Jane as well as assisting the care of his mother, Andy.
While raising his family with Jane, Al cherished the time being able to support his children in their school and sports activities. Later in life, he was a proud grandpa and enjoyed spending time with his family. In his spare time, he loved to fish, hunt, and cheer on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas State Wildcats.
Survivors include his loving children; son, Isaiah Tetuan (Jen); daughter, Elizabeth Flores (Ivan); daughter, Sarah Tetuan (Jen); and son, John Tetuan (Logan); as well as his grandchildren, Makayla & Caden Tetuan; and Mariah, Sebastien, and Santiago Flores. Other survivors include his sister, Guadalupe Martinez (Michael); brother-in-law, Rob Hodges (Mary Anne); brother-in-law, Joe Ortiz; and a loving extended family that includes numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces & nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jane M. Tetuan; sister, M. Virgina Ortiz; brother, Michael Tetuan, Jr.; brother, Ricardo Tetuan; and brother, Jose Tetuan.
Visitation with viewing will be held from 6-8:00 P.M., on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66603.
A memorial visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 A.M., on Friday, November 1, 2024, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 A.M., at Community Church, 1819 SW 21st St., Topeka, KS 66604.
Memorial contributions can be made in Al's memory to Midland Hospice and/or Community Church. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
