Alfred Lorenzo “Al” Barron, 92, of Topeka, passed away on June 29, 2022, at the House at Midland Care surrounded by his family. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on August 4, 1929, the son of Pedro and Hilaria (Santa Cruz) Barron. Al was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the Santa Fe Railway Company where he was a welder for 42 years. Al enjoyed tinkering in his garage and working on cars. He was very handy and also made sure that his yard was well-manicured and tidy. He enjoyed watching Western Movies and cheering on his sports teams, the Chiefs, Royals, and KU, and watching the golf channel. Al also loved Mexican Music. He will be remembered as a quiet man who was a good provider for his family. He married Juanita C. Mendoza at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on August 25, 1950. They shared over 71 years together. She survives. He is also survived by his children; Richard Alfred Barron (Marta), Ronald L. Barron (Judy), Roderick J. Barron, Raul L. Barron, Gina Barron-Jaramillo, 16 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings, Hope Cuevas, Cora Luna, Robert Barron (Barbara), and Lilia Camacho (Jimmy), many nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Jose Luis Barron, and by three great-grandchildren. Al will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 5th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with military honors following the mass. Cremation will follow.
