Amelia "Molly" Cervantez

Amelia “Molly” Cervantez, age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2025, in Topeka.

Molly was born the oldest of seven children to Ramiro R. Valdivia, Sr., and Jenny Juna (Valdivia), on December 2, 1932, in Topeka.

She attended school at Grant Elementary and Curtis Junior High and night school at Highland Park High School. She then obtained a degree in Early Childhood, teaching for 25 years. Molly loved teaching, caring for, and nurturing children throughout her life. She will be remembered for her devoted faith, kindness and love for her family.

Molly married Frank Cervantez on April 23, 1955, in Topeka, KS. Together they shared 69 years of marriage before Frank’s passing on December 21, 2024.

Survivors include her children, Mary A. Luna of Topeka, Christopher (Janelle) Cervantez of Topeka, Richard P. (Cynthia) Cervantez of Topeka, Paul A. (Margie) Cervantez of Topeka, Carol Cervantez of Topeka; as well as 14 grandchildren, Kevin, Christine, Anthony, Valerie, Blake, Collin, Matalyn, Andrea, Brian, Matthew, Aaron, Victoria, Jessica and Glen Jr.; and 22 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother, Ramiro Valdivia, Jr.; and two very special friends, Juanita Toledo and Louisa Ramirez.

Those greeting her in Heaven include her husband, Frank; beloved daughter who passed on January 10, 2025, Catherine “Cathy” Cervantez; sister, Eloise Valdivia; sister, Carmen Valdivia Olvera; sister, Maria “Lupe” Guadalupe Valdivia; brother, Baudelio “Bobby” Valdivia; and brother, Daniel Valdivia.

Molly will lie in state from 4-8:00 P.M., with a rosary at 6:00 P.M., on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M., on Friday, January 24, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. With the loss of her daughter three days before her death, we will memorialize Cathy Cervantez during the Mass. Burial for Molly will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.

Memorial contributions can be made in Molly's memory to Elara Caring Hospice. Contributions can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
