Ann Hanrahan
Florence Ann Hanrahan, 72, of Topeka, KS died Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
Ann was born August 13, 1949 in Mexico, MO the daughter of Hubert and Florence (Juenemann) Fennewald.
She served in the Women’s Army Corps during the Vietnam War. Following her discharge, she worked for the Pentagon and the United States Postal Service. After moving to Topeka, Ann joined Most Pure Heart of Mary Church. She enjoyed taking her daughters on road trips, chaperoning school field trips, and attending her children’s sport events and musical performances.
Ann retired from the United States Postal Service in 2013. During her retirement, she loved helping with her grandchildren and spending extra time with her dogs, Zach and Rosie. She enjoyed working on puzzles, coloring, cross stitch, laughing hysterically at America’s Funniest Home Videos, and searching for the perfect birthday and Christmas presents for her family.
Ann is survived by her daughters, Ashley Benedict and Jayme (Nick Arvanitis) Hanrahan; grandchildren, Austin and Brooklynn Benedict; former spouse, Dennis Hanrahan; six siblings, Marie (Lamar) Utterback, Duke (Kim) Fennewald, Margie (Allen) Floyd, Bernard Fennewald, Frank Fennewald, and Bill (Mae) Fennewald; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Her parents, Hubert and Florence Fennewald, preceded her in death.
Family will receive friends at her visitation on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 6 p.m. at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. A Rosary will follow at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Cremation will follow. Burial of her urn will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to Helping Hands Humane Society sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
