Anthony "Michael" Charay

Anthony “Michael” Charay, 64, of Topeka, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at his home.

He was born July 8, 1960, in Topeka, to Antonio Silva Charay and Augustina “Helen” (Gomez) Charay. Michael graduated from Topeka High School in 1978, and went on to attend the University of Kansas, and graduating in 1996 from the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Michael worked as a CPA for the State of Kansas.

He enjoyed traveling the world, shopping, cooking, and supporting his alma mater the University of Houston Cougars.

Michael is survived by his mother, Helen Charay of Topeka; sisters, Rebecca “Becky” Charay of Topeka, Mary Perez and husband Mark of Topeka, and Rachael Charay of Topeka. He is also survived by a nephew Andrew Torrez; niece's, Marissa Perez, Mariah Moore and husband Marcus; and 3 great nephew's, Julian, Tristan, and Tyson Torrez.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Charay in 1966 and father, Antonio Charay in 1998.

A visitation with the family will be 10:00am-11:00am, Friday, January 31, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with a rosary prayed at 10:45am, and Memorial Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00am.

Inurnment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.
