Benito Gonzalez

Benito Gonzalez, age 71, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022, at the University of Kansas Health System-St. Francis Campus.

He was born the son of Marcelino Gonzalez, Sr., and Juana (Gardea) Gonzalez on March 21, 1950, in El, Paso, TX.

Benito joined the United States Marines and served during the Vietnam War. On March 20, 1976, he married Dolores C. Rivera in San Bernardino, CA. Together, they shared over 45 years of marriage.

He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Benito enjoyed woodworking, watching westerns and military documentaries, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Dolores C. Gonzalez; daughter, Andrea Gonzalez; five sons, Dominic, Benito E., Max, Michael, and John Gonzalez; three grandchildren, Marisela, Victor, and Dominic J. Gonzalez; and three brothers, Marcelino, Jr., Ruben, and David Gonzalez.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Gonzalez and a sister, Virginia.

A rosary will take place on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 4:00 P.M., with visitation to follow until 7:00 P.M., at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., on Tuesday, March 15, at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.
