Bonnie Rae (Bates) Siebert, age 90, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at her home.
She was born the second of seven children in Wamego, KS on November 26, 1934, the daughter of Lloyd and Della (Botts) Bates.
Bonnie graduated from Wamego High School in 1952. She worked many years at Pelletier’s Department Store in downtown Topeka and finished her career at the Kansas State Treasurer’s Office. On November 1, 1991, Bonnie married Frank J. Siebert and together they shared 14 years of marriage before Frank’s passing on February 13, 2006.
Throughout her life, in spite of physical limitations, Bonnie was practical, courageous, and determined. She was a loyal friend and time spent with her family brought her the greatest joy. She cherished her whole family. Bonnie kept up with her family with a phone calls, cards, and letters, but family gatherings were her favorite. Rarely one to complain, Bonnie was able to stay in her home even when health challenges made it difficult. We will miss her.
Bonnie is survived by her brother, Tom Bates (Pat) of Lawrence, KS; her special niece, Marilyn Hazen (Gwynn) of Frankfort, KS; her stepchildren, Frank Siebert (Jeanne) of Shawnee, KS, Diane Siebert of Overland Park, KS, Marianne Grant (David) of Roeland Park, KS, Catherine Ann Siebert of Roeland Park, KS, and Michael Siebert of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Other survivors include her three grandchildren, Joe Siebert, Mary Pat Siebert, Amanda Grant, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; her sisters, Jean Prockish and Joyce Page; and her three brothers, Jim, Bob, and Bill Bates.
She will lie in state from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., on Thursday, March 6, 2025, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 10:30 A.M., at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in Bonnie's memory to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
