Catalina Laura Galvan, 74, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at The Gardens at Aldersgate, in Topeka.
She was born June 17, 1950, in Tucson, Arizona, the daughter of Pedro Gallego and Maria G. (Garcia) Gallego Chavez.
Catalina graduated from Hayden High School. She went on to work for and retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
Catalina was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was a dedicated and caring wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and daughter, until the recent passing of her mother Maria Chavez.
She married Artemio Q. Galvan on February 14, 1974. Artemio survives of the home after celebrating 50 years together.
Other survivors include, her children, Alberto Galvan (Maria) of Topeka, Filberto Galvan (Kelly) of Topeka, Israel Galvan (Teresa) of Topeka, Maria Galvan of Topeka; siblings, Peter Gallego of Topeka, Eleanor Adame of Topeka, Ernestina Adame of Topeka; 15 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation with the family will be 4:00-6:00pm, Tuesday, November 19, with a rosary prayed at 6:00pm, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am, Wednesday, November 20, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
