Dale Avila, 74, of Topeka, passed away on December 25, 2021, at the University of Kansas, St. Francis Campus.
He was born in Topeka, Kansas on June 22, 1947, the son of Ramon and Judy (Bueno) Avila.
He worked for the City of Topeka in street maintenance until his retirement.
Dale enjoyed fishing, painting, coloring, yard work and especially spoiling his grandchildren. He also loved to build ponds.
Dale was married to Jeanine Baker who preceded him in death in 2008. He is survived by his children, Tanya Trueblood and husband Kevin, Danielle Patterson and husband Robert, Dale Avila Jr., Shelly Thorpe and Kelly Hubert, all of Topeka. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jacob Chester, Justin Chester, Alaina Avila, Karly Trueblood, Drew Davis, Devin Thorpe, Kyler Hubert, Kolton Hubert and six great grandchildren. His siblings, Raymond Avila Sr. and wife Sheri, Gloria Myland and husband Dennis and Jose Avila and wife Celia also survive him.
Dale will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Thursday, December 30th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. where a rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on December 31st at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home to assist his family with expenses and sent to 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
