Darren D. Severin, age 53, of Topeka, KS, passed away at his home in Topeka on Sunday, August 23, 2020.
Darren was born the son of Joseph F. and Nancy J. (Spielman) Severin on February 26, 1967 in Marysville, KS.
He was a graduate from Axtell High School in Axtell, KS. Darren attended Kansas University for two years. While attending, he was called up for active duty in the United States Army. He had served in the Gulf War as a Medical Equipment Repairer. He was awarded several decorations and medals for his service.
Darren was an avid sports enthusiast. He was a four-year letterman in football, basketball and track. He cheered for KU basketball and enjoyed watching the KC Royals and other sports as well.
He married Susan Stimac and together, they raised two beautiful daughters. Although the marriage ended in divorce, he kept a great relationship with Susan.
Darren will always be remembered as a wonderful, goofy, gentle father and friend. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his beloved daughters, Claire Marie Severin and Madelaine Elizabeth Stimac; mother, Nancy Severin; brother, Rodney J. Severin and a loving extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Severin.
Cremation has taken place.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020 from 9:30 – 10:30 A.M., followed by a rosary at 10:30 A.M. and a Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M., all being held at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Placement of cremains with military honors will be held at a later date at the Holy Family Columbarium at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.
