David Ortiz Arreguin

David Ortiz Arreguin, 90, of Topeka, passed away on February 23, 2023, at Brookdale of Topeka care home.

He was born in Topeka, Kansas on December 23, 1932, the son of Jose Jesus and Maria (Ortiz) Arreguin.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served in the early 1950’s.

He retired in 1994 from Santa Fe Railway Company where he was a Machinist for over 45 years.

David was a very spiritual person and attended Our Lady of Guadalupe and Sacred Heart Catholic Churches.  He attended daily mass, enjoyed gardening and working in his yard, traveling to visit family in California and Kansas City, and maintaining his cars.  His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events.

He married Victoria Anguiano on May 11, 1957, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.  She survives.  He is also survived by two sons, David Arreguin II and his wife Lyneatte, and Joseph Arreguin, two grandchildren Ross and Tianna Arreguin, and his siblings; Camerina Ayala and Connie Padilla.  He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Jose Guadalupe Arreguin, Rose Blanco, Florence Rodriguez, Joaquina Ortiz and Eustacio Arreguin.

David will lie in state on Saturday, March 4^th, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where a rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
