Dean Richard Weichold, 85, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Celebration Villa Hearthstone East, in Topeka.
He was born January 8, 1939, in Elmdale, Kansas, the son of Walter F. Weichold and Ida M. (Wambsganss) Weichold.
After graduating high school, Dean entered the United States Air Force and served from 1959 to 1963. He then went on to work with the Santa Fe Railway as a carman until his retirement.
Dean loved his family and was especially fond of his grandchildren. He enjoyed welding, watching westerns, and the Kansas City Chiefs. He was the king of one liners and had a great sense of humor.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #534, Topeka Moose Lodge #555, and Brotherhood of Railway Carmen.
He married Sylvia A. Beier on July 10, 1976, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Topeka. She died in 2013.
Survivors include a son, James Weichold of Gainesville, Florida; daughter, Angela Ronsse and husband Scott of Topeka, Kansas; grandchildren, Marie Christ and husband Stephen, Beth Weichold, Sarah Lundquist and husband Derek, Tyler Ronsse, Brandon Ronsse and wife Anna; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Glen Weichold.
A visitation with the family will be 10:00-11:00am, Wednesday, December 4, with a funeral service following at 11:00am at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.
