Dolores “Lola” Delgado, 76, of Topeka, KS died November 30, 2020 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
Lola was born June 11, 1944 in Topeka the daughter of Christy and Lydia (Martinez) Serna.
She graduated from Topeka High School and attended Topeka Tech and Business School and St. John School of Hairstyling where she received her license to practice cosmetology.
Lola was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where over the years she was a member of the Altar Society, served as a Lector, Lay Eucharistic Minister, taught CCD classes, was on the Parish Council and was a Fiesta Mexicana volunteer.
In her spare time, she enjoyed decorating, cooking Mexican food and delicious cheesecakes. She loved reading entertainment magazines and spending time taking care of her home and family.
Her greatest love was her husband, Ray. Lola cherished their time spent together watching TV, going to movies, concerts, trips and going out to eat with him and her family. She was a loving and supportive wife always being there for Ray, especially when he was studying to become a deacon in the church. She was so caring and giving to her family and others.
Lola married Porfidio “Ray” Delgado at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He survives. Other survivors include her daughter, Sheri Preston and her husband, Matt along with two grandsons, Ian and Shawn Preston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Christy and Lydia and a sister, Angela Castardo.
Lola will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 18, 2020, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 4:00 P.M. and end with a Parish Rosary being prayed at 6:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 P.M. (noon) Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Please adhere to the current public gathering guidelines with masks and social distancing at the funeral home and church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
