Dolores Martinez, age 92, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Stormont Vail Hospital.
She was born the daughter of Manuel and Josefina (Gonzalez) Arana on January 15, 1929 in Topeka, KS.
On May 20, 1955, Dolores married David Barron Martinez at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Together, they shared 64 years of marriage before David’s passing on September 9, 2019.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She loved to watch westerns, dancing, listening to Mexican music and cooking. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.
Survivors include her children, Steven Martinez of Winfield, KS, Joe Martinez and his wife Lorie, Mercedes Morgan and Manuel Martinez and his wife Sara all of Topeka. Other survivors include, 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; seven siblings, Carmen Ramirez, Sr., Pete Ramirez, Martha Quevedo, Jenny Bravo, Veronica Contrerrs, Lucy Flores and Julian Ramirez. She also leaves behind her beloved pet companion, Bentley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Martinez; seven siblings and a son-in-law, Gordon Bordeaux.
Dolores will lie in state at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 from 9-11:00 A.M., with a parish rosary at 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. at the church. Cremation will follow after the services.
