Donald G. Boos passed away July 30, 2021, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. He was born in Hays, Kansas on September 2, 1930 to John and Catherine (Boos) Boos. The family moved to Topeka in 1942 where Don attended Hayden High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1951 until 1954. Following his Naval service, he returned to Topeka to study at Washburn University. On January 28, 1956 he married the love of his life, Joan Marie Krische, with whom he would spend the rest of his life. Don spent his career in and around the grocery and real estate businesses, primarily with the Fleming Company, in several cities, where he was Store Development Manager. He was an extremely loyal employee always looking out for the company’s interests. He loved working with people and the real estate community loved working with Don. As much as he loved his work, his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, his wife, his four sons and their families. Don was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, Kansas. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and he served on the Parish Finance Council for 15 years. Don was involved in his community serving as a member of the Olathe Planning Commission for six years, with one year as Chairman. He was a Precinct Committeeman and was active within the Olathe Republican Party. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Wanda Jean (Boos) Guth, daughter-in-law, Gina Marie (Ross) Boos, and grandson, Vincent Edward Boos. Don is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan, his sister, Frieda (Boos) Schmidtlein of Topeka, KS, sons, John (Rochelle) Boos, Ron (Jill) Boos, David Boos, all of Olathe, and Don (Cathy) Boos of Salina, KS, along with seventeen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Davita Dialysis Center, the staff and doctors at Olathe Medical Center, with special thanks to their Critical Care nursing staff. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 11:00AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 227 SW Van Buren St., Topeka, KS. A Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 10:30 a.m. prior to the mass. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka, KS following Mass.
