Dorothy Jean Huerter-Holloman, age 93, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Midland Hospice House.
Dorothy was born the daughter of Emmett “Pat” and Fleta Fay (Roberts) Bullock on September 25, 1927 in Vermillion, KS.
She graduated as Valedictorian from Vermillion High School in 1945. On August 18, 1947, Dorothy married Leonard G. Huerter at Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka. They shared 51 years of marriage before Leonard passing on April 27, 1999. After Leonard’s passing, Dorothy married William L. Holloman on January 14, 2000 at Holy Name Catholic Church. They shared 16 years of marriage before William’s passing on March 18, 2016.
In her early years, Dorothy worked for Santa Fe before having her family and had worked for Hallmark Cards on the production line. She then became a reinsurance processor for Security Benefit Life until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Dorothy enjoyed quilting, which she would make for all her grandchildren, embroidery, reading, collecting angels, puzzles and filling out crypto quotes in the daily newspaper. Her faith was the upmost importance to her. She was a former member of the Women’s Aglow Group and participated in the Jaycees with her husband.
Survivors include her son, Michael Huerter and his wife Sheryl of Topeka; two daughters, Linda Wickstrum and her husband Ken of Topeka, Patty Ramsey and her husband Harold of Topeka; six grandchildren, Cliff Wickstrum and his wife Katie, Jason Wickstrum and his wife Yuuka, Dusty Roberts and his wife Kim, Cole Huerter and his wife Ashley, Sarah Pollock and Clay Huerter; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Carol Johnson for all the loving care she gave to their mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands and a brother, Gary Bullock who passed on April 2, 1981
Dorothy will lie in state at the St. Matthew Catholic Church on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 10-11:00 A.M. with a Parish Rosary being held prior at 9:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in Dorothy’s loving memory to Midland Hospice Care, Inc., 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
