Edward J. Chavez, 59 of Topeka, passed into the arms of Jesus on December 18, 2022, surrounded by his family at Stormont Vail Health.
He was born March 22,1963, in Topeka, to John V. Chavez and Anna M. (Lopez) Chavez.
Edward grew up in Topeka and graduated from Hayden High School in 1981.
He was an avid reader, enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and loved his fur babies Molly and Max.
He worked as a camera man for Channel 27 News, was a Topeka Firefighter, and worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 21 years, starting in 1998.
He was a giant with a heart of gold, and will be greatly missed by his mother, Anna Marie Chavez of Topeka; brothers, Robert J. Chavez (Kelli) of Topeka, John D. Chavez of Topeka; sister Juliana M. Chavez-Munoz (Phil) of Topeka; nephew, Daniel V. Chavez (Sandy) of Topeka; his beloved niece, Analisa Chavez-Munoz of Topeka; as well as many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John V. Chavez, July 14, 2022.
A rosary will be prayed at 12:30pm, followed by celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00pm Tuesday, December 27, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
A private family inurnment will take place in the Spring.
