Elizabeth “Liz” A. Dennis, age 96, of Topeka, KS, passed away in the same room and home she lived her entire life in on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in Topeka, KS.
She was born the daughter of George J. and Elizabeth C. (Andes) Ingenthron on August 23, 1928. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Capitol Catholic High School in 1946.
On July 20, 1946, Liz married her beloved sweetheart, Arthur “Art” Paul Dennis at the Base Chapel in Rantoul, IL. Together, they shared 66 years of marriage before Art’s passing on October 27, 2012.
Liz was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Her faith and church were the utmost importance to her as she was a member of the Altar Society and the Sacred Heart Church Ladies. She and other members of the church started the school lunch program. Some of Liz’s greatest joy was cooking meals for her family, students at school, reading, and spending time outside tending to her floral garden. Above all, time spent with her family and attending her grandchildren & great-grandchildren’s activities brought her the greatest joy.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Pamela Morse, (Tom), Kirby Dennis, (Mary Jane), Steven "Doug" Dennis, (Brenda), Tina Gartner (Bill) all of Topeka and son-in-law, John Bishop of Highlands Ranch, CO; fourteen grandchildren, Tama, Ryan, Darcy, Ben, Lindsay, Heath, Erin, Erica, Kelly, Jaime, Kim, Steven, Kate, and Billy; as well as 19 great-grandchildren.
Liz is preceded in death by her husband, Art; daughter, Lisa Bishop; grandchildren, Hunter Fawl and Mary Dennis; brothers, Raymond, Joseph “John,” and Harold “Shadow” Ingenthron; and her sisters, Helen Abate, Lucille Stier, and Mildred Crawford.
