Elizabeth “Lizzy” Ann (Adame) Witherell, age 72, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 in Topeka.
Elizabeth was born the daughter of John and Teresa (Valdivia) Adame on May 27, 1948 in Topeka, KS. She was a 1966 graduate from Hayden High School. On May 17, 1975, Elizabeth married James H. Witherell at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Together, they shared 45 years of marriage.
Lizzy enjoyed collecting Hallmark Christmas Decorations, playing bingo, being creative with arts and crafts, and was an avid KU fan. She worked at Hallmark Cards and for many years worked at a daycare as a daycare provider, and enjoyed watching numerous children throughout the years. She was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she devoted her time to volunteering at the church, Holy Family Catholic School and helping with the Fiesta Mexicana. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and her beloved grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, James H. Witherell; son, Michael Witherell and his wife Rachael; mother, Teresa Adame; two grandchildren, Achilles and Ragnar Witherell; three brothers, Michael Adame and his wife Gloria, Paul Adame and his wife Veronica, Teddy Valdivia and his wife Cyndi; two sisters, Carleen Garza and her husband Daniel, Karen Phillips and her husband Dave. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father, John, a brother, Jerry Adame and a sister, Jocelyn (Adame) Engroff.
Elizabeth will lie in state at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 from 9-10:30 A.M., followed by a Parish Rosary at 10:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. at the church. Cremation will follow after the services and inurnment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made in Lizzy’s loving memory to Holy Family Catholic School, 1725 NE Seward Ave., Topeka, KS 66616. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
