Elizabeth “Jane” Nelson, age 90, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Lexington Park Health & Rehab in Topeka.
She was born the daughter of Fredrick W. and Lenora L. (Von Fange) Schneider on August 31, 1934, on the farm northeast of Hunter, KS. Jane graduated from Hunter High School.
On July 18, 1954, Jane married her sweetheart, David Allen Nelson and together they shared 52 years of marriage before David’s passing on October 4, 2006.
Jane was an administrative assistant with Social Services for the State of Kansas. She was a devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church and helped with various church groups. Jane was a sweet, loving, generous Christian woman who was strong in her belief of God and showed it in her actions towards people. She was always willing to help somebody when times got tough and asked for very little in return. Janes passion for gardening was present throughout her yard, whether she was planting and growing flowers, a vegetable and fruit garden. Her favorite was spending time with her family, watching old movies, Hallmark Holiday movies, MASH or Golden Girls. Time spent during the holidays getting family and friends together brought the greatest smile to Jane. One could not forget her yearly glass Christmas tree she would gift everyone each year.
Survivors include her son, Daniel James Nelson; daughter, Rebecca Nelson; four grandchildren, Danielle Mayo, Elizabeth Mayo, Kenneth Morgan, and Brianna Gooding; three great grandchildren, Hadley, Alaina, and Winter; as well as one brother, Jim Schneider.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Nelson; daughter Sandra Joy Nelson-Mayo; and a sister, Wavelyn Joy Schneider.
