Emilia Ortiz Florez

Emilia O. Florez, 87, of Topeka, KS died Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at the House at Midland Care Hospice.

She was born October 11, 1933 in Topeka the daughter of Jose and Graciana (Llamas) Ortiz

Emilia was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church

She married Francisco “Jimmy” Florez, Jr on June 18, 1956 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  He preceded her in death on May 25, 2019.  Survivors include three sons, Paul (Bonnie) Florez, Frank Florez, and Tom Florez, two brothers, Gonzalo Ortiz, and Bennie Ortiz along with three sisters, Monica Rodriguez, Natalie Rodriguez and Isabel Validivia.  Six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Florez, and six brothers, Joe, Pete, Richard, Cenon, Lolo, and Raymond Ortiz.

Emilia will lie in state after 2:00 pm Friday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where her family will receive friends until 8:00 pm.  A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
