Faustino Fernandez Sr.

Faustino Fernandez, Sr., 56, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023 at his home.

He was born February 15, 1967 in Durango, Mexico, the son of Pablo Fernandez-Gurrola and Paula Retana-Retana.

Mr. Fernandez worked in the construction industry, primarily as a roofer. 

He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren as well as riding and working with horses. 

He married Petronila Abarca on April 23, 2016, she survives of the home.

Other survivors include his children, Faustino Fernandez, Jr. and wife Reyna of Topeka, Eliel Fernandez of Topeka, Vivian Serratos and husband Martin of Topeka; siblings, Felix Fernandez of Topeka, Manuel Fernandez and wife Delia of Topeka, Elizabeth Fernandez and husband Jesus of Durango, Mexico, Maria Fernandez of La Paz, Mexico, Socorro Fernandez of Durango, Mexico, Sanjuana Fernandez of Mexico City, Mexico; grandchildren, Jazmine Fernandez, Ana Serratos, Aliyah Fernandez, Adriel Fernandez, Arely Fernandez, Matthew Fernandez, Gael Fernandez, and Delilah Fernandez.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private gathering will be at 10:00am-11:00am, and the family will receive friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm, Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.  A graveside service will follow at Topeka Cemetery at 1:00pm.
