Felix “Sly” C. Vargas, 92, of Topeka, KS died Monday, October 18, 2021 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. He was born in Topeka on July 10,1929 the son of Manuel and Soledad (Chavez) Vargas. Felix was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and retired from Hills Pet Foods where he was a forklift operator for over forty years. Felix enjoyed going for walks and was a very devout catholic attending church and praying the rosary on a regular basis. He loved visiting with people never meeting a stranger. Felix is survived by a sister, Lupe Perez, a brother, Cayetano (Pauline) Vargas along, three nieces, Anna Sargent, Gina Vargas, Sarah Stone and four nephews, Isaac Perez, Jr, Chris Perez, Rudy Perez and Tony Vargas along with a host of great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Manuel Vargas, Jr, Merced “Checo” Vargas and a nephew, Edward Perez. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
