Irma Iris Arredondo

Irma Iris Arredondo, age 84, of Topeka, KS, passed away in the early hours of Thursday, June 6, 2024. 

She was born the daughter of Martin and Gertrude (Hernandez) Perez on March 12, 1940, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. She met, fell in love, and married Vincent Arredondo, Jr., on December 18, 1959, in Mexico. Together, they shared 41 years of marriage before Vincent’s passing on May 31, 2001.

In her early years, Irma was a stay-at-home wife that took great care and pride raising her family of six children alongside Vincent. Once the children got older, Irma attended the Gene Blake School of Cosmetology. She and Vincent enjoyed travelling, especially on different pilgrimages and to the Holy Land. They both loved to volunteer at St. Francis Hospital and spend time with each other. 

Irma’s faith and devotion to the Lord was the upmost importance to her. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother, and she would pray the rosary throughout the day. Spending time with her family brought her great joy. She will be remembered for her kindness and gentle personality. 

Survivors include her four sons, Anthony Arredondo (Lindola), Martin Arredondo, Gilbert Arredondo (Patricia), and Angelo Arredondo (Krisit); one daughter, Margaret Alice Arredondo; as well as 18 beloved grandchildren and 25 cherished great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her brother, Juan Perez, as well as a loving extended family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vincent Arredondo, Jr.; son, Michael Arredondo; siblings, Victoria Goya, Rogelio Perez, Martha Perez, and Victor Perez. 

 She will lie in state from 9:30-10:30 A.M., followed by a rosary at 10:30 A.M., on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M., at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.
