James "Big Jim" Alexander Serrano, 54, passed away on February 18, 2022, at his home.
He was born in Topeka, Kansas on July 27, 1967, the son of Philip C. and Amelia (Gonzales) Serrano.
He was a 1986 graduate of Highland Park High School.
James worked as a Custodian for the Topeka Public Library for over 20 years.
He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music, playing video games, and loved animals. He enjoyed gardening and was known for his beautiful sunflowers and delicious tomatoes. Most of all he will be remembered as a kind person who was always there to help anyone. His family was also very important to him.
James is survived by his parents, Philip and Amelia Serrano, his siblings; David Serrano of the home, Gabriel M. Serrano (Karen Rupp) of Noble, Oklahoma, Elizabeth I. Serrano of Lawrence and a nephew Augustine Serrano of Wichita, as well as his dog Patrick. He was preceded in death by a sister Grace who died in infancy.
