James E. Tinsley, 77, of Topeka, passed away on January 23, 2022 at Rolling Hills Nursing Home.
He was born in Horton, Kansas on August 6, 1944 the son of Harry and Mabel (Tollefson) Tinsley.
James was a member of the National Guard Reserves. He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He owned his own small engine repair business.
James loved to tinker with things, enjoyed mechanics and was very creative. He had a lot of little hobbies and was a very social person.
He married Mary Lou Benedict in Topeka, Kansas. She survives. He is also survived by three sons, Chris (Jessie) Tinsley of Ft. Myers, Florida, Bill (Julie) Waldron of Allen, Texas and Ted (Michelle) Waldron of Richmond, Virginia. He had six grandchildren, Blake, Avrey, Lily, Madaline, Erin and Kaitlin. He is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Hazel, a brother John Tinsley and a sister Joan Kuck. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mabel Tinsley, and two sisters, Marjorie Nigh and Jane Clement.
Mr. Tinsley will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday, January 30th from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. Inurnment will be held on Monday, January 31st at 2:00 p.m. at Westlawn Memorial Gardens.
