Jenny T. Tetuan, 90, of Topeka, passed away on June 20, 2022, at the House at Midland Care.
She was born in Topeka, Kansas on November 27, 1931, the daughter of Macario and Guadalupe (Gutierrez) Torrez.
Jenny was a seamstress for Pelletier’s and retired as a Dietary Technician with the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, the Altar Society, was a Fiesta Mexicana volunteer and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503.
Jenny enjoyed cross-stitching, sewing, her roses, and canning tomatoes and peppers and was known for her salsa. Everyone was always welcome at her home where she gave her hospitality and fine cooking. Most of all she loved spending time cooking for, and making items for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She married Jesse Tetuan in Topeka, Kansas on August 27, 1949. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1982. She was also predeceased by her parents; her infant son, Joseph Tetuan, and two brothers, Rito and Gonzalo Torrez.
Jenny is survived by her children Anna Marie Tetuan (Linda Weaver), Rita Tetuan, Jennie Heim, Joe M. (Mary) Tetuan, John C. (Theresa) Tetuan, Ann Margaret (Robert) Cooper, 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Candelaria “Candy” Rodriguez, Mary Pat Rangel, Vincente “Curly” Torrez, and John C. Torrez.
Jenny will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday, June 26th from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. where a Rosaries will be prayed by the Daughters of Isabella at 4:00 p.m. and by the Parish at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 27th at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church or the Make a Wish Foundation in honor of her great-granddaughter, Florence Tetuan, and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
