John “Mac” Guerrero Sr, 84, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Midland Hospice House.
He was born October 12, 1939, in Topeka, to Carmen Castardo.
John worked for BNSF as a boilermaker, retiring in 2001.
He enjoyed working on cars in his spare time, as well as watching sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas Jayhawks. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
John married Beatrice Marmolejo on September 28, 1958, in Topeka. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Christine Guerrero-Stickles and husband Joe of Topeka; son, Brian Guerrero and wife Christina of Topeka; brother, Domingo Castardo of Topeka; sisters, Rosie Garcia of Kansas City, Carmen Flowers of Topeka, Patricia Stanley and husband Stanley of Topeka, and Maggie Castardo of Topeka; 4 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother, son, John Guerrero Jr., brother, Joe Castardo, and sister, Mary Ellen Valdivia.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 6, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, with a rosary prayed at 5:30pm at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am, on Thursday, March 7, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
