Jonathan Josafat Gonzalez Avalos, age 40, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, in Topeka.

He was born the son of Gabriel Gonzalez and Josefina A. de Gonzalez on November 15, 1983, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Jonathan was a machine operator for Waste Management and a dedicated member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Jonathan was deeply family-oriented and took great pride in being a father. He was especially proud of naming his children and always cherished time with his family. He loved watching anime during his free time and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was known for his artistic talent, excelling in drawing, and brought joy to gatherings as the life of the party. Jonathan was also a loving big brother who frequently offered advice, teased his siblings, and shared laughter and love with them. He was particularly close to his grandfather, a bond that left a lasting impact on him.

His children remember him as the "best dad ever," and his nieces and nephews adored him. His legacy of love, humor, and artistic spirit will be forever cherished by those who knew him.

Survivors include his beloved parents, Gabriel and Josefina Gonzalez; his loyal siblings, Brenda Raquel Gonzalez Avalos, Irvin Gonzalez Avalos, Steven Gonzalez Avalos, and Nathalie Gonzalez Avalos; his fiancée, Ashley Jones; his cherished children, Kaden Gonzalez, Ezra Gonzalez, and Ozias Gonzalez, Kalease Jones, D'Andre McDonald, and Tayvion McDonald. Jonathan also leaves behind his best friends, Cesar Martinez, Robert Bailey, and Curtis Epps, along with many nieces, nephews, and a loving extended family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS. Cremation will follow after the services. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jonathan's memory to Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.

Nació el 15 de noviembre de 1983 en Guadalajara, Jalisco, México, hijo de Gabriel González y Josefina A. de González. Jonathan trabajaba como operador de máquinas para Waste Management y era un miembro devoto de la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.

Jonathan era muy orientado a la familia y se sentía profundamente orgulloso de ser padre. Se sentía especialmente orgulloso de haber elegido los nombres de sus hijos y siempre valoraba el tiempo que pasaba con su familia. En su tiempo libre, disfrutaba viendo anime y era un ferviente fanático de los Pittsburgh Steelers. Era conocido por su talento artístico, especialmente en el dibujo, y siempre animaba las reuniones como el alma de la fiesta. Jonathan fue un hermano mayor cariñoso que con frecuencia ofrecía consejos, bromeaba con sus hermanos y compartía risas y amor con ellos. Jonathan también deja a sus mejores amigos, César Martínez, Robert Bailey y Curtis Epps, junto con muchos sobrinos, sobrinas y una amorosa familia extendida.

Los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo el martes 29 de octubre de 2024, a las 10:00 A.M., en Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS. La cremación se realizará después de los servicios.
