Joseph "Phat Joe" Edward McGonnell, Jr., age 44, of Topeka, KS, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, November 26, 2021.
Joe was born the son of Joseph Edward McGonnell, Sr., and Darlene “Dolly” Agnes Habig on April 14, 1977.
On September 7, 2002, Joe married Brianna Newman at Ward Meade Park in Topeka, KS.
You could find Joe tinkering in his garage, fixing and building trucks, enjoying a large bonfire or having a cookout with family and friends. His true passion was RC Racing. He would spend many weekends, racing locally and in nearby states. Above all, his family was the upmost importance to him, and he will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Brianna McGonnell; three sons, Dominic Redmon and his wife Kenzie, Zachary Redmon, Cody McGonnell and his wife Christy; two daughters, Holliday Morgan, and Austin McGonnell; three grandchildren, Chance, Karson and Aiden; two sisters, Niki Porter and her husband Bobby, Jenny Luvisi and her husband Ron; father, Joseph Edward McGonnell, Sr.; father and mother-in-law, Roger and Patricia Newman.
He was preceded in death by his mother; several uncles and one aunt.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial visitation will take place on Sunday, December 5, 2021, from 1-3:00 P.M., followed by a memorial service at 3:00 P.M., at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
Joe will be laid to rest with his mother at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
