Judith Lee “Judy” Nagy, 79, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023, at her home.
She was born September 26, 1943, in Newton, KS, to Frank Henry Torline and Elizabeth Genevieve (Hogan) Torline. Judy graduated from Newton High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri Columbia, and a master’s degree from the University of Kansas.
As a hobby, Judy operated a booth at the Wheatland Antique Mall. She also ran a hospice support group through Midland Hospice.
She worked as a research assistant at the Menninger Foundation prior to becoming a clinical social worker with Valeo Behavioral Healthcare. Judy retired in 2013.
Judy married Dr. Harry John Nagy in Newton, KS on August 20, 1966. He died in 2007.
Survivors include her children, Catherine Nagy (Gregg Gibson) of Falls Church, VA, Christopher Nagy (Michelle) of Waseca, MN, Genevieve DelRosario (Frank) of St. Louis, MO, Anastasia Tindell (Brian) of Shawnee, KS; siblings, Janet Sickbert of Decatur, IL, Roberta Nieto of Golden, CO, John Torline of North Newton, KS, Rosemary Thorne of Durham, NC, Traci Henning of Hillsboro, KS; 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Patricia Baker; and companion, Herb Spohn.
The family will receive friends 2:00pm-4:00pm, Sunday, September 17, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am, Monday, September 18, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Topeka.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Torline Scholarship Fund, Midland Hospice, or the Topeka Rescue Mission, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66603.
The family would like to acknowledge the expert care Judy received at the end of her life from the Ted Hersey House in Leawood, KS.
