Julian “Beans” Ziegler, 95, of Topeka, passed away on May 22, 2022, at Brewster Place.
He was born in Flush, Kansas on February 3, 1927, the son of Peter and Mary Ann (Klug) Ziegler.
He attended Hayden and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII.
Julian worked for Santa Fe Railway for over 45 years.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling, hunting, and feeding the local cats and wildlife. Julian was an avid fan of the KC Royals, KC Chiefs and KU Basketball.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he ushered, a honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by a sister, LaVonne “Vonnie” Ziegler of Wichita and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Julian was predeceased by his parents, six brothers, Raymond, Kenneth “Jack”, Albert, Pete, Leo, and Francis, and three sisters, Mary Ringelman, Lena Ziegler and Ramona Anderson.
He will lie in state at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, May 26th from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. with a Parish Rosary prayed at 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
