Larry Dale “LD” Crawford Sr, 85, of Topeka, died July 14, 2022 at The Midland Hospice House.
He was born November 26, 1936, to Clarence Patrick Crawford and Dorothy Fern (Griffin) at Ottawa KS.
He married Judith Smith on October 5, 1990, in Topeka KS.
Larry owned and operated Crawford Quality Siding Service for many years. When he retired he worked for the 501 Schools as a bus driver.
Larry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved his church work and held many callings there. He loved missionary work and service to members and the community. He and wife Judy worked as temple workers at the Omaha Temple and traveled the USA researching genealogy and visiting church history sites and lots of family.
In his younger years Larry had a country band and continued playing his guitar and singing to his grandchildren.
Larry leaves to mourn him, his wife Judy of the home; sons, Larry Dale Crawford Jr and Daniel Dean Crawford (Lavonne) of Topeka; daughters, Deanna Dee Crawford of Topeka, and Allison Andersen (Theron) of Dix, California; step children-John Raymond Strickert (Ami), Monica DeAnn Strickert, Kandice Ranee Morgan of Topeka, Krystal Marie Aloui of Topeka, and sister, Marilyn Dysinger of Springfield, Missouri; 32 grand children and 20 great grandchildren; and many friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents-Clarence and Dorothy Crawford, his brother Wayne Crawford, sister Darlene Crabb, an infant daughter Tamela Dawn Crawford and grandson Rocky Dell Crawford.
Funeral services will be 11:00am, Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3711 SW Jewell, Topeka KS. The family will receive friends at 10:00am at the church. Interment will follow the funeral ceremony at Westlawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Crawford’s name should be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Missionary Fund, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave. Topeka, KS 66603.
Larry had been battling dementia for over 8 years and required constant care the past few years, and the family would like to thank Midland Hospice for their wonderful care so he could remain in his home longer.
