LaVonne Ida Mae Broxterman

LaVonne Ida Mae “Lee” Broxterman, 83, of Ozawkie, passed away at her home on December 1, 2018.

She was born in Duluth, Minnesota on July 22, 1935, the daughter of Herbert and Lila (Oswald) Anderson. 

Lee loved to crochet, do crafts of all kinds, travel, bake, cook and flower gardening.  She was a Chiefs and K-State fan and a member of the Red Hat Ladies.  Lee will be most remembered for her love of family and friends and taking her grandchildren on special vacations with her husband.

Lee and her husband, Dennis, managed the Ozawkie American Legion Post #225 Hall for thirteen years.  She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she held many local and state offices.

Lee married Dennis Broxterman, who was the love of her life, on March 14, 1977.  He survives as do four children; Tina Lannan (Dave) of McFarland, and Ginger Taff (Bob) of Temecula, CA, Marilyn K. Broxterman-Roduner (Bill) of Topeka, and Kary Broxterman of Topeka, eight grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren, one great great grandchild, her best friend, Jesse Brower and many nieces and nephews.  She also raised three other children, Gale, Tony and John.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Michael, two sisters, Glorianna “Poopsie” Sloan, Sharon Neal, and a brother, Wayne Anderson.

Lee will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 6:30 p.m.  Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home.  Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
