Leona Marie Dinkel Morrow Frye, 91, of Topeka, died, Monday, February 6, 2023, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.
She was born February 7, 1931, in Grainfield, Kansas, the daughter of Alex Dinkel and Anna (Wasinger) Dinkel. Leona attended primary school in Grainfield. She and her family moved to Topeka when she was 13, and she attended Hayden High School.
In her early years she was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and had been attending Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church before the pandemic.
She worked in property management and as a graphic artist for Jostens.
Leona enjoyed taking photographs and filling photo albums, as well as interior design and collecting angels. She absolutely loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always looked forward to family re-unions and getting together with her siblings to celebrate their birthdays.
She is survived by a son, Donald Lee Morrow of Newport News, Virginia; a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Forrestt and husband Jon of Berryton, Kansas; grandchildren, Wade Forrestt, Clint Forrestt, David Morrow, Douglas Morrow, and Jacob Woodley; great grandchildren, Cade Forrestt, Claire Forrestt, Jocelyn Forrestt, Bruin Woodley, and Leona Woodley; sister, Ella Roberts of Pratt, Kansas; brothers, Cleatus Dinkel and wife Sherrie of Topeka, Kansas, and Elmer Dinkel and wife Marilyn of Overland Park, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Anna; daughter, Linda Woodley; and five siblings, Helen, Roseley, Laverne (Delores), Wilfred, and Bill (Mary).
The family will receive friends at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 9:30am to 10:30am, where a rosary will be prayed at 10:30am. A memorial service will be at 11:00am.
Inurnment will be private in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas
